They’re replacing all the pipes in my building and one of the workers drives this. Seems to be doing the job admirably.

I’d like a better look at the rear handle on that hatch. Those always go.

I really want to daily one of these, they’re kind of hard to find with a stick.

Haha...I’m putting that in the next craigslist ad I post.

I’ve always been tempted to get one, too. There often seems to be a few manual ones on CL. It’s getting hard to find one in decent shape without a ton of miles now, though.

Yep. I search SoCal CL all the time for them. Lots of salvage titles too.

It’s really as roomy inside as the outside suggests. Makes sense. That guy really doesn’t give a shit. Don’t lend ‘m the Volvo!

You can see he’s got more room than the Ranger next to it. They had to do work in my garage and I was watching like a hawk that they didn’t destroy the Fuldamobil. This guy should not be around nice cars!

Haha. I did use the opportunity to tidy up and make some room on the shelves. I could probably fit a Brütsch Mopetta up there.

With that athletic body of your’s I’m sure you’ll be able to lift it all the way up there.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
06/19/2017 at 23:43

Kinja'd!!!1

A Mopetta I could, yes. I know that from experience. It’s a little awkward, but I can mange it. You get up on the shelf and lift it by the handle.

Kinja'd!!!

I actually think it was this exact car that I did put on a shelf.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
06/20/2017 at 06:12

So you get one wheel on the shelf and the push up the rest? Still about 200kgs I suppose? Wow.

It’s actually about half that. I pulled it up. I did have a little help.

Kinja'd!!!1

No, just a regular guy who gave it a little boost before I yanked it up. My microcar friend in Massachusetts owned one. An original, too. Here it is.

Kinja'd!!!

When it was found in the back of a warehouse, it looked like this.

Kinja'd!!!

I think only a couple of them had the soft top. A Japanese collector has it now.

06/23/2017 at 02:33

Kinja'd!!!1

Hahaha, what do you think when you run into that in a warehouse after all those years, there’s some old bumper car or something? Must be a not that hard of a restoration, right?

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
06/27/2017 at 14:43

Kinja'd!!!1

Apparently, the son of whoever owned the warehouse wanted to restore an old car and his father said, why don’t you fix up that little buggy your grandfather threw in the warehouse? And, he went to look at what it was and it was this. It was completely forgotten and no one knew what it was, but after some research, they realized it was something special. Probably was the quickest restoration ever, but he did a good job. He had to remake that windscreen and he got it running before he sold it to my friend. I never got to drive it, unfortunately. I did drive his Peel Trident once, though.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
06/27/2017 at 17:24

Kinja'd!!!1

What did the make that windscreen of? That sounds like the biggest challenge there. A Peel Trident? WOW! TELL MORE!!!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
06/27/2017 at 23:54

Kinja'd!!!1

I think the windshield must have been acrylic. He did a good job. He refreshed all the brackets and frame.

Yeah, the Peel Trident was awesome. Probably the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever been in. Barely any suspension and it was like a sauna under the bubble. A previous owner had cut a 3 inch hole in it to let some more air in. Barely any padding on the seat and it can’t get out of its own way with 2 people. But, it was still fun.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
06/28/2017 at 09:23

Kinja'd!!!1

And how did he form that Acrylic or does it bend automatically in the frame, no idea how that works.

Any traffic jams behind you?

I think made a mould so it came out curved. I’m not really sure.

Oh, yeah. That was the scary part. Staring right in the eyes of someone furious at you for going 22 mph.

06/29/2017 at 03:16

Kinja'd!!!1

You were able to look into their eyes? How did that happen? The usual F150 driver’s eyes should be positioned at least 1.5 meters higher!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
06/29/2017 at 21:09

Kinja'd!!!1

It was one of the few people here not driving an F-150. Even with a normal car, it’s more like looking into the grille when you’re in a Janus. For an F-150 it would be the undercarriage.
